Design Your First Logo

Your Challenge

Create a simple logo for yourself using just your initials.

That’s it. No complex brand strategy. Just you, making something visual that represents you.

What You’ll Experience

In just 30 minutes, you’ll:

  • Design your first logo using free tools
  • Use AI to generate creative ideas
  • See how design thinking actually works

This is similar to exercises in our full Digital Identity project.

The Simple Process

Step 1: Gather Your Basics (2 minutes)

Write down:

  • Your initials (or nickname)
  • Three words that describe you
  • Your favorite color

That’s all you need to start.

Step 2: AI Brainstorm (5 minutes)

Open ChatGPT and use this prompt:

I'm creating a simple logo using my initials: [your initials]
Three words that describe me: [your 3 words]
My favorite color: [your color]

Please suggest:
1. Three different ways to arrange my initials (stacked, side-by-side, overlapping, etc.)
2. A simple shape or icon that could go with them
3. What feeling/mood this combination might convey

Pick one idea that resonates with you.

Step 3: Create Your Logo (15 minutes)

Go to Canva.com (free account):

  • Click “Create Design” → “Logo”
  • Add text with your initials
  • Try the arrangement AI suggested
  • Add your color
  • Include the simple shape if you want
  • Play for 15 minutes (it’s supposed to be fun!)

Remember: Simple is better than complex.

Step 4: Make Two Versions (5 minutes)

  • Save your favorite version
  • Then make one quick alternative (different color or arrangement)
  • Compare them side by side

Step 5: Reality Check (3 minutes)

Look at your logo and ask:

  • Can I read the letters clearly?
  • Does it look good small (like an avatar)?
  • Do I actually like it?
