Write Your First Hook

Write Your First Hook

Your Challenge

Write 3 different hooks for content about something that happened to you this week.

Blog post, social media, email—your choice. Just create openings that make people stop scrolling.

What You’ll Experience

In just 30 minutes, you’ll:

  • Study what makes you stop scrolling
  • Write hooks that grab attention
  • Use AI to analyze patterns and create variations
  • Learn why YOUR version might beat AI’s suggestions

This gives you a taste of hook writing. The full project starts with deep research before writing.

The Simple Process

Step 1: Collect Inspiration (5 minutes)

Open your favorite platform and screenshot 3 posts that made you stop scrolling.

  • What grabbed you?
  • Was it a question?
  • A surprising statement?
  • A relatable problem?

Copy the exact words that hooked you.

Step 2: Pick Your Topic (2 minutes)

Think about your week. Pick something that happened:

  • Something that frustrated you
  • Something that surprised you
  • Something you learned
  • Something you tried
  • Someone you met

One real moment. That’s your content.

Step 3: Write Your Hooks (10 minutes)

Write 3 different openings for the same story:

  • Version 1: Start with what you expected
  • Version 2: Start with what actually happened
  • Version 3: Start with what you learned

Don’t perfect them. First drafts only.

Step 4: AI Analysis (8 minutes)

Open ChatGPT and use this prompt:

Here are 3 hooks that made me stop scrolling today:
[Paste the hooks you collected]

And here are my 3 attempts at writing hooks for my content about [topic]:
[Paste your 3 versions]

Please:
1. Explain what makes the viral hooks work
2. Suggest how to strengthen each of my hooks
3. Create one new variation that combines the best elements
Keep my authentic voice while adding impact.

Step 5: Choose Your Winner (5 minutes)

  • Compare your originals with AI’s suggestions
  • Mix and match the best elements
  • Create your final hook that feels authentic AND compelling
  • Ask yourself: Does this sound like ME?

Remember: The best hook is one that YOU would click on.

Your Hook-Writing Checklist

✓ Did you study what actually makes YOU click?
✓ Did you write multiple versions before asking AI?
✓ Does your final hook sound like YOU?
✓ Would you genuinely click on it?

Congratulations! You just learned the most important skill in content creation—making people stop scrolling.
